*5% BONUS TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Cardholders receive a bonus back on the card in the amount of 5% of all signature-based purchases made at participating merchants (merchants listed below). PIN-based purchases, purchases made at participating merchant locations outside Canada, and purchases of gift cards made with this card may not be eligible for the 5% bonus calculations. Bonus funds will be added to the balance on the card within 10 days following an eligible purchase, dependent on merchant settlement. Bonus funds become part of the card balance and are treated as such for purposes of card and/or funds expiration. Qualifying purchase, participating merchant settlement, and bonus transaction must occur prior to card ‘valid thru’ date. Only the amount of a transaction applied to the card at participating merchants is eligible for the bonus. If a transaction involves the card plus a supplemental payment method, the portion of the transaction applied to the supplemental payment method is not eligible. Mastercard prepaid cards can be used wherever Mastercard cards are accepted. To use the card at a point-of-sale terminal, simply swipe the magstripe on the back of the card and sign the receipt. Each time the Mastercard prepaid card is used, the purchase amount, including taxes and any other charges, is deducted from the available balance until that balance reaches zero. Once the entire card amount has been spent, it can no longer be used as a method of payment.
Yes, online, mail and telephone order merchants often require that personal information, including name, address, telephone number, and email address of the cardholder be verified with the card-issuing financial institution prior to purchase. If you wish to make online, mail, or telephone order purchases, you should go to to register your card. Unless you register your card in advance, there may be no way an online, mail, or telephone order merchant can confirm your identity. Without such confirmation, the merchant might decline your purchase even if there are sufficient funds on the card.
You can check your balance online at or by calling 1-855-288-0926. A merchant will not be able to tell you how much money you have remaining on the Mastercard prepaid card. Knowing your balance before shopping will help ensure that the Mastercard prepaid card has enough funds available to pay for your purchases.
Some merchants permit ‘split transactions’. If you wish to use your card for a purchase that is greater than the balance associated with your card and the seller permits split transactions, you must charge only the exact amount available on the card to the card. Then you must pay the difference using another payment method. The merchant may require payment for the difference in cash rather than accepting another card, such as a credit or debit card. Some merchants may not accept these ‘split transactions’. If you fail to inform the merchant that you want to perform a split tender transaction prior to completing the transaction, your card is likely to be declined.

Yes, however you should be aware your Mastercard prepaid card may not be accepted at automated fuel pumps. You can pay for your fuel purchase with the station attendant rather than swiping your Mastercard prepaid card at the pump. Your Mastercard prepaid card should not be used for recurring transactions.

Some merchants, like hotels, restaurants, and mail-order companies factor in an automatic service charge or additional expenses when using a prepaid card. These merchants may require that the card have an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses. Should this occur, inform the cashier that you wish to deduct a specific amount from the Mastercard prepaid card and use another form of payment for the balance or tip.

Cardholders can use the Mastercard prepaid card for online or phone purchases, but will need to be sure the name, address, and phone number on the Mastercard prepaid card account information is exactly the same as the information given to the merchant. If the information is different, the purchase could be declined.

When you shop at participating merchants, you will receive Cash Back equivalent to a certain percentage (up to 5%) of your purchase amount (including sales tax) to your card balance. Visit for a list of participating merchants and the money back percentage offered by each merchant.
Earnings generally will be added to your card balance within 48 hours of the purchase, but could take up to 10 days. If your earnings have not been added to your card within 48 hours, please call. Do not reach out directly to merchant partners.
Yes. You can continue to earn money back until the balance on your card is less than 10 cents. At that point, you will stop earning money back (because 5% of an amount less than 10 cents is less than half a cent, and your Cash Back earnings are rounded to the nearest whole cent).
